The Public Comment Period Closed November 25th
We thank everyone who submitted feedback on the Draft Westover Comprehensive Plan! The Final Draft of the Comprehensive Plan includes necessary changes that were made based on the public comments received.
The Plan’s recommended actions for implementation are a direct result of the input given by the Westover community through a survey that was opened from April 1 to June 3, 2024, a series of stakeholder questionnaires, and two public meetings. The Draft Comprehensive Plan was presented to the public on October 24th, and the 30-day public comment period was open from October 25 through November 25, 2024.
The Comprehensive Plan guides day-to-day, short-term, and longer-term decision-making over the next 15 years. The Plan is intended to be a living document, meaning it will be updated and amended as needed to reflect progress made, changing conditions, and the evolving needs of the City. It is a visionary and policy document, not a legally binding code or ordinance.
Next Steps – January 27th Planning Commission Public Hearing
The Westover Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 6:30 PM at Westover City Hall, 3312 Westover Road, Westover, AL 35147. The purpose of the hearing is to receive comments regarding the adoption of the new Westover Comprehensive Plan.
A hard copy of the new Westover Comprehensive Plan is available for inspection and review at Westover City Hall during normal business hours and may also be viewed and downloaded at www.PlanWestover.com.
For those unable to attend the public hearing, written comments should be sent to Norma Lovorn, Planning and Zoning Clerk, at Westover City Hall, 3312 Westover Road, Westover, AL 35147 or emailed to [email protected] no later than 3:00 pm on January 23, 2025. October 24, 2024: Draft Plan Reveal Meeting RecapThis Community Meeting was held on October 24, 2024, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the Mount Tabor Annex, and a total of 23 people attended. At this meeting, an overview presentation of the new Comprehensive Plan was given to the public to reveal the key recommendations that had emerged from the public input process. Participants were asked to indicate which of the Plan’s recommended actions they support.

May 13, 2024: Kickoff Community Meeting RecapThe Kickoff Community Meeting was held on May 13, 2024 at the Mount Tabor Annex from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, and
a total of 20 people attended. The purpose of the Kickoff Community Meeting was to gather feedback regarding the state of the City today and resident’s issues and desires regarding economic development, quality of life, transportation and infrastructure, community development, and parks, open space and trails. |
